Longtime best friends turned co-founders, Alix Burns and Katie Kanning are the duo behind The Mahj Bar. What began as a friendship between backyard neighbors quickly grew into something special—both in life and around the Mahjong table. After learning American Mahjong, they instantly fell in love with every part of the game: the friendly competition, the beauty of the tiles, the rich history, and most of all, the time spent laughing and connecting with friends.
Inspired by the sense of community they experienced week after week, Alix and Katie dreamed of creating a space where others could feel the same joy. The Mahj Bar was born from that vision, a welcoming, stylish studio built on friendship, connection and a shared love of the game.
